This is the advertisement for Devo’s new album Something for Everybody. It is their first album in 20 years. Devo are known for making punk rock and new wave music. The woman shown in the advertisement seems to be very seductive for example her red lips, red nails and her eyes shut. The advertisement seems to be very focused on the person in it. The Colour scheme for it is blue and white. The colour red connotes passion or seductiveness. The blue object what the person is putting in her mouth is the iconic head gear (energy dome) what the band wear in their gigs. Warner brothers are shown in the advertisement which is the record label Devo use; this is unusual because Warner is known for producing films not music. The female looks like she should be advertising for a new food or hair and beauty product. The font for the advertisement is very bold and the name Devo is the biggest of the writing and is in capital letters. This makes you focus on it more. There is pattern in the writing where the colours go from blue to grey. This makes it more appealing. The album name something for everybody shows that they are going for a different style of music and that they are trying to appeal to a variety of people.
Overall I think we focus on the female in the picture. I think this advertisement would be appealing to men because of the seductive sense you get from it. Although from what I have seen from other images for the album they are going for a very unique style and trying to aim their music at everyone.

Kate Nash - Foundations
This video is for Kate Nash Foundations. The storyline for this video is about a couple who seems to be slowly breaking up. The video starts with two toothbrushes. The toothbrushes look like they are representing the couple. One is blue and and one is pink. The two colours are the main colours for boys and girls for example pink is usually used for girls and blue for boys. When we see the couple together they are playing a board game. Kate Nash looks very unintrested because she is looking at the camera and not her boyfriend. She then pulls away when her boyfriend shows a sign of affection towards her. Everything in the video looks very cute. When we see the dinosaurs in stop motion animation it is very effective and shows its very playfull. We see more stop motion animation when the two socks are attached to each other. Again they could be represented as the couple and them fighting and the two socks pulling away from each other. All the lyrics in the video link with visuals of the videos like 'You said I must eat so many lemons
'cause I am so bitter.' and we see Kate Nash eating lots of lemons. The video is very colourful like the pink and yellowe dresses and also the shoes. It makes it look 40s and old fashioned. We then also see a toy baby moving across the room which is filmed again instop motion animation. This could be represented as what may come in their future
Adele's Rollin' in the Deep video shows Adele sitting in a chair where there are lots of different things going on around her for a example someone throwing plates at a wall, a person dancing and karatying through white powder. From Adele's body language she gives us the feeling she is angry and frustrated by waving her arms around and in someways shouting the lyrics She is wearing a all black outfit; this could be a connotation of mourning and negativity. When we see the part of the video where there is thousands glasses of water. The sound of the drums gives the water a rippling affect. When we see the person dancing in the powder it looks fanatasing because of all the powder just floating around the room. We then see the plates being thrown accross a room. Again there is lots and lots of broken plates, mugs and bowls. This empahasises the agressiveness of the video.
The video is set in what looks like a abandoned house. The walls look like they have ancient pictures painted on them. Because some walls are being covered by plastic coverings it could be a sign of change. Next we see close ups of a man playing the dums. When we see him playing the drums it gives a better effect on the music and makes it more clear. All the different cuts in the video makes everything more in rythm because the music also gets faster. The shots we see from Adele become more snappy and she seems to become more frustrated as the video goes on especially as she repeates the words 'we could of had it all'. Lastly a replica of what seems to be a city made out of card board boxes is slowly put into flames because of the sparks. This may represent what Adele could of had and what it is now.

Advertisments
This music advertisement is for the band The Verve’s single Love Is Noise. There is not much colour in this advertisement and no photos of the band but just a cloudy sky. This is effective because it shows we do not need to see the musicians or for it to have lots of pictures. This advertisement is simplistic. The sky is a mix of darker and lighter shades. The colours link with the writing. The cloudy sky looks never ending and in some ways relates to the lyrics of the song ‘Are we blind-can we see’ which is the chorus of the song.
This is the advertisement for Panic at the Discos album Pretty Odd. This is very artistic and some of it has been taken from the album cover. The pattern is very floral and consists of 2 main colours for the titles; purple and orange. The artwork and titles look very circus like for example the banner for Pretty Odd. The title represents the whole artwork because everything is very unusual and different. Also one song in the album is called Mad as Rabbits. This song could be linked with the title of the album. In previous albums and the older name of the title, there was a exclamation mark. This has been dropped. This could be a sign that they are maybe starting a fresh including the type of genre of music they play. The songs chosen on the album are more folky and this is presented in this advertisement.
Secondly the fonts of the advertisement are all different. The main title, The Verve is not in capital letters but title of the single Love Is Noise is in capital letters. Although the title of the band is not in capital letter, it does not mean it takes the focus off it. In some ways you focus more on it.
The advertisement uses different fonts like Panic at the Disco is again unusual. In some ways it makes it hard to read, but it does not matter to us because fans are more focused on the name of the new album.
Overall I think this album cover is quite folky and quoting the album ‘odd’.

The Script
Science and Faith
The album Science and Faith by the script shows two hands pressed together. In some ways they
look like they are joining together. It could also represent science and faith forming a bond,
because the both beliefs are so opposite to each other. The background colour is a brownie faded colour. It look older and warn. The hand on the back of the CD cover is pressing against the wall. Because we are only seeing one hand it looks like the persons who's hand it is, is maybe in despair. We do not see any other part of the person just their hands, this could be symbolising the two beliefs.
Lastly we don’t see much writing only the title and the list of songs on the CD. The list of songs are in small fonts. The Script may not want the listeners to focus on what there listening to before hand and think the album should just be listened to without knowing what’s on there.
Paolo Nutini
Sunny Side Up
Mumford and Sons
Sigh No More
The album cover to the Sigh No More shows the band in a shop window but also looks like a boutique store. It looks like a typical London location. It looks like the band are imitating four mannequins. The clothing they are wearing is quite indie like chequered shirts, straw hats and waistcoats.
The album cover looks quite 70s. The white building where the band is, is quite plain, but it will still attract you because of the location and how the band is presented. The Mumford and Sons title looks like it is written on the pavement. the font of the writing looks old fashioned and goes with the cover.
Overall the way the band are dressed, where they are standing in the shop window, it all goes with type of songs on the album which are very folky
