Advertisments

This music advertisement is for the band The Verve’s single Love Is Noise.  There is not much colour in this advertisement and no photos of the band but just a cloudy sky.  This is effective because it shows we do not need to see the musicians or for it to have lots of pictures. This advertisement is simplistic. The sky is a mix of darker and lighter shades. The colours link with the writing.  The cloudy sky looks never ending and in some ways relates to the lyrics of the song ‘Are we blind-can we see’ which is the chorus of the song.
Secondly the fonts of the advertisement are all different. The main title, The Verve is not in capital letters but title of the single Love Is Noise is in capital letters. Although the title of the band is not in capital letter, it does not mean it takes the focus off it. In some ways you focus more on it.

This is the advertisement for Panic at the Discos album Pretty Odd. This is very artistic and some of it has been taken from the album cover.  The pattern is very floral and consists of 2 main colours for the titles; purple and orange. The artwork and titles look very circus like for example the banner for Pretty Odd.  The title represents the whole artwork because everything is very unusual and different. Also one song in the album is called Mad as Rabbits. This song could be linked with the title of the album. In previous albums and the older name of the title, there was a exclamation mark. This has been dropped. This could be a sign that they are maybe starting a fresh including the type of genre of music they play. The songs chosen on the album are more folky and this is presented in this advertisement.
The advertisement uses different fonts like Panic at the Disco is again unusual. In some ways it makes it hard to read, but it does not matter to us because fans are more focused on the name of the new album.
Overall I think this album cover is quite folky and quoting the album ‘odd’.
