Music Advertisement

This is the process of my music advertisement.

Island Records Email

For my music video, I have sent an email to get permission from the record company Island Records who produce Bombay Bicycle Club's music. The reason for this was that I did not want people to think that I am copyrighting their music and for coursework use only.

How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?
We used various examples of technology in the making of our video and digi packs for example when making our videos we used a adobe premiere to produce the video. Using Adobe premiere made our videos more professional and look more like a video. Also the camera we used was a canon 550. Using this camera made out shots better quality and more defined and as a whole more realistic. For our planning and research we had to present our work in a professional and clear way. We used Blogger for this. This let us make daily posts showing updates of what we done in the previous week. We could also present our drafts for our video and digi pack. This allowed us to get feedback of others. We could also do polls, where you would make a question and get others or your targeted audience to vote. This question could be about if people would prefer green screen in videos or if they prefer seeing a female or male in a video.
I used spot lights in my actual video. The reason for this was because I was shooting in the night time. The spot lights also contrasted with the fairy lights in. The spot lights also made the colours more prominent, for instance one of my shots is an extreme close up of one of actress’s lips. The lighting made the red lipstick she was wearing brighter.
After shooting the video we went on to using Adobe Premiere to put the footage together. This software allowed us to lip sync the lyrics and visuals together. At times it was difficult to get the lip syncing totally correct.  For my video I added put onscreen lyrics.  I did this so I could link the visuals with the imagery.
After putting all video footage together we then went on to using Adobe After Effects where we could add effects to our video. In after effects I used the key light to remove the green screen.  For this I used a tutorial. It was important to cut the green screen at the right moment because the footage could become out of time and shaky. I have also put written the lyrics which will overlap over some of the shots. I did this so I could link some of the visuals with the lyrics.
There were also other sources which helped me through the research and planning stage and they were Prezi, internet and Slideshare. Instead of using PowerPoint to present our work we used Prezi. Prezi is a good way to present your work. It is a more professional way of showing your work. It also makes your work look more creative. In our planning and research we were asked to make a montage of various shots. We were able to use Canon 550 cameras to shoot the footage. These cameras allowed us to shoot in shallow focus etc. The cameras made the footage a lot better quality. After shooting the footage we put it into Adobe premiere where we could play around with some of the effects. So for example you could change the colour in some of the shots. Reverse shots and fasten them up.
Using the internet helped me through the planning and research stage. This is because I was able to look at other music videos and album covers. I also used the internet to research on different theorists so for instance the internet gave me a wider knowledge on the theorist Laura Mulvey or Andrew Goodwin
I used Adobe Photo shop to create a lot of my products. I had past experience using Photoshop when we made out music magazines. Having the experience in Photo Shop allowed me to improve my work and make it better quality.

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I was able to get audience feedback for my digi packs and music video. Having audience feedback let me make improvements and showed me what a digi pack and music video my audience would like to see. For my audience feedback I got people of my target audience to review my products on a video.  I tried to get feedback from the audience I was targeting my video at. This let me see their opinions and what they liked and didn’t like. For my original idea of my digi pack It is completely different to my original idea now. I felt like I could not link my video and auxiliary task together.  For instance the feedback I got from my first digi pack draft was constructive feedback. Once making my second draft where I changed my idea, my feedback was more positive for example the person said that that liked that I used the same fairy lights in my digi pack to my video. They said it was better because I had a general theme in both tasks whereas in my draft of my CD cover the idea I had was different to what was seen in the video.
My video is targeted at both men and women between the ages of 15-25 and the genre being pop/indie.  The feedback I received was important because it allowed me to know what the audience wanted to see. The first type of feedback I received was a poll which was put on my blog. Again having this poll allowed me to see what was good in a music video and what wasn’t. I believed the poll served its purpose because it allowed for a range of people to put their input of what they  want to see in a video.
Having the feedback has improved my overall product. It allowed how to make the improvements my video needed.
